Ideology

I learned that I am a Risk, Resiliency, and Prevention student because I used to be a positive and critical youth development. I am changing more and more. I have changed from when I was first starting the program. I am trying to be a more open minded person because I wasn't as open minded before I started to become a youth development major.

Injustice

I observed an injustice when the cops were standing outside of my job and didn't give me any idea of why they were there. We also didnt know that they were outside until customers told us. The customers that were inside were afraid to go outside because we didn't know what was happening.

Play

My play is playing with my little cousin who is 3 she gives me a toy and I have to create something with it. I have to give myself permission to play with the things that she gives me. I try to think of different ways that the item can be used and can be. I pretend to be a new person while I play with her. I have pleasure with playing because it gives me joy to be able and allow myself to play with toys again.

Miss Jessie Revised

I was three when I started dancing and my dance teacher would always help me to make sure I was doing the right thing. We were getting ready to go on stage for my first recital in June of 1999. We are finally on stage and the curtains open, we start to do the dance that we had learned since January of 1999. The teacher was with us on stage. Suddenly, the lights went off and closed the curtains. The crew had their flashlights to light the way for the teachers, so they could grab the students and bring them off to the side. They only did this, so they could get the lights back on. All I can remember is that my best friend and I was standing together. Miss Jessie came and grabbed both of our hands and lead us both to the side of the stage. She stood with us until the lights came back on. Once the lights finally came back on, we proceeded with the dance, back from the beginning.
Even though she was a teacher, I always felt that Miss Jessie was like a big sister to me. I remember that she also treated me like a little sister, which made our relationship even better. Miss Jessie helped me, my younger sister, my best friend Cassie, and her younger sister to dance. I danced for 15 years and Miss Jessie was the one who taught me how to dance the most. We had great times together we would sit in the back room in the dance studio and laugh. My mom helped in the office at the studio on Saturdays while me and my sister danced.
My sister and I would be at the studio for a long time on Saturdays. When I was in class there would be one of the assistants would come upstairs and ask me what I wanted to eat for lunch. When the assistant and the teacher came back with the food I would still be in class.

Memories

I was three when I started dancing and my dance teacher would always help me to make sure I was doing the right thing. We were getting ready to go on stage for my first recital. We are finally on stage and we start to do the dance we were taught with the teacher on stage with us and all of a sudden the lights went off and all of the dancers that were on stage started to go all over the place. All I remember and Miss Jessie grabbing me and my best friend Cassies hands and bringing us to the side of the stageand standing there with us until the lights went back on and we could do our dance and the rest of the teachers and assistants were getting the other dancers to the side of the stage. Once the lights went on again we started the dance again from the beginning. Miss Jessie was like a big sister to me and she treated me like a little sister. She helped me to learn about dancing. She also helped my younger sister, my best friend and her younger sister to learn how to dance. I danced for 15 years and Miss Jessie was the one who helped me learn how to dance through the years. This was my first year of dance and I needed to learn a lot. Miss Jessie was the one who taught me and helped me when learning a new step or anything new.
